Description

Introducing the exceptional RNLB Shoreline (ON 1054 · Op. No. 37-36), a distinguished vessel crafted by the renowned manufacturer, William Osbourne. Originally launched as part of the RNLI fleet, this remarkable boat was sold in February 1994 and subsequently renamed Porta Maggie, and later, Mairi Bhan. Known for its storied history and robust design, the Shoreline exemplifies a unique blend of functionality and heritage that makes it a valuable addition for any maritime enthusiast.

Technical / Design Features

  • Length: Approximately 37 feet 6 inches (11.43 meters)
  • Hull Design: Displacement hull configuration, which provides excellent stability and seaworthiness
  • Self-Righting Capability: Unlike its predecessor, the Oakley-class, the Rother-class employs a sophisticated hull and superstructure design for self-righting, eliminating the need for a water-ballast system
  • Launch Capability: Designed for slipway or carriage launch; the Shoreline was primarily stationed at a slipway station
    • Operational History: While initially intended for active service, the slower speed and displacement hull design led to the Rother-class being phased out in favor of faster vessels. The Shoreline was later transferred to the relief fleet after a few years of dedicated service

The RNLB Shoreline is not just a boat; it’s a piece of maritime history that offers potential buyers a unique opportunity to own a vessel with a rich legacy. Whether you are looking to restore it to its former glory, use it for leisurely coastal cruising, or add it to a collection of significant vessels, this boat promises to deliver an experience steeped in tradition and reliability. Its sturdy construction and design make it well-suited for various marine activities, from rescue missions to tranquil day outings on the water.

Don’t miss out on the chance to own a remarkable piece of nautical heritage that continues to embody the spirit of adventure and resilience.
